Sahyadri School, Pune

Fifteen miles as the crow flies from Bhima Shankar, the source of the river Bhima in the Sahyadri mountains, in a remote hamlet in interior Maharashtra is the gently sloping Tiwai hill. A winding path leads to the top of the table land from where miles of forest land are visible. Further away, a majestic chain of the Sahyadri high ranges fills the horizon in every direction. Immediately below, the slopes touch the waters of the Chas-Kaman lake on three sides. This is the setting of the Sahyadri School, which started functioning during the Krishnamurti Birth Centenary Year in 1995.

A residential, co-educational school with Classes from IV to X, the school has 265 students and 48 teachers, and is affiliated to the ICSE. The academic session is form June to April, with a mid-session vacation in October/November. Minimum age for admission is nine years. Class strength is kept to around 25. Well-equipped laboratories; computer, and arts and crafts departments; hostels for boys and girls; and medical facilities are the other facilities on the campus.
