Study Centres

A Krishnamurti Study Centre offers a quiet space, away from one's daily routine, for reflecting on one's life in the light of Krishnamurti's teachings. It is not academic study aimed at gaining knowledge, but an exploration of one's thoughts and feelings and a gathering of energy. Krishnamurti's books and tapes are to be used as a mirror to see oneself clearly. There is no instructor or instruction, and no authority. Learning takes place through dialogue in which there is a listening and a tentativeness. Dialogues are not debates around philosophical theories, but a sharing of existential questions. These Study Centres, which are set in places of great natural beauty and silence, offer a simple and austere way of living for seekers of truth.

If I went to The Study, first of all, I would want to be quiet, not bring problems there: my household problems, business preoccupations, and so on. And also I think I would want what K says to be entirely part of my life, not just that I have studied K and I repeat what he says. Rather, in the very studying of it, I am really absorbing it; not bits of it here and there, not only just what suits me…

If I went there to study what K is saying, I would want to investigate it, question it, doubt it; not just read something and then go away.
