Kolkata Study CenterThe Krishnamurti Study Centre in Kolkata is housed in a four-storey building on Deodar Street off Dover Road which is accessible from both Ballygunge Circular Road and Hazra Road. The building has a reading room on the first floor, a large room for discussions, an auditorium for video-shows and a silence hall. The reading room has a large collection of books by J Krishnamurti, including translations of a few titles in Bengali and Hindi. There are also books on philosophy, religion, yoga, psychology and alternative medicine. A separate lending section for Krishnamurti's books enables people to borrow books against a nominal deposit. There is also a good collection of video and audio recordings of Krishnamurti's talks and dialogues, with facility for individual viewing of videos. Video-shows are held on Sundays at 6 p.m. The Centre is open Tuesday to Sunday (2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on other days). The Centre also takes part in the annual book fairs held in the city. KFI is keen on making the Centre more vibrant as a place of study and dialogue for serious seekers, in disseminating the teachings, and in promoting Bengali translations.
